Partner has a specified single-suiter

In practice, partner has opened one of 2, 2, or 2.

Typically this will show a six-card suit and five to ten points, but you may have a different point-range by partnership agreement.

It is also important to take into account any other aspects of partnership style as discussed in the section on the opening bid.  If for example partner’s bid was made at favourable vulnerability in third seat then you may well have different requirements in terms of suit length, suit quality, and major suit holdings than if the same bid had been made vulnerable in second seat.
