Rubinsohl (or Rubensohl, or transfer Lebensohl)


The Lebensohl approach  is excellent and will place you up there with the majority of tournament players as far as your methods are concerned.


There is, though, a certain logic to extending your methods even further and adopting Rubinsohl (or transfer Lebensohl).


The Rubinsohl convention harnesses many of the advantages of a transfer system whilst retaining the Lebensohl strengths of distinguishing between competitive and constructive bids at the three-level, and showing or denying a stop in the opponents’ suit.


Although the methods do not differ significantly I shall consider separately the allocation of the available bids in the cases when:-


RHO overcalls in a major;


and


RHO overcalls in a minor.
