Unusual 4NT

Opponents opened a weak two in a major

This bid is ‘unusual’ in as much as it promises 5-5 in the minors, but of course this will be on a strong holding over the opponents’ weak opening bid.

RHO opens 2 (5-9 points and a six-card suit).

Bid 4NT promising 5-5 shape in the minors in a hand of considerable playing strength.

Over a weak two in a minor

It is less common to find the bid allocated in this context, but the logical way forward is to show a hand which is 5-5 in the majors and a genuine slam-try.

Context - overcaller - opponents opened with a single-suited weak two - extensions and variations.
