Opponents opened with a strong bid

In the section on the overcall of a weak opening bid of two of a suit I separated the discussion depending on whether the opening bid was in a major or a minor.

Although I have re-amalgamated these two situations on some of the following pages it is important to remember that partner’s bid might carry slightly different inferences in the two cases, according to your partnership agreements.

The whole point of their opening bid was to deprive you of a contract which might rightfully be yours.

Your underlying philosophy must be that you won’t let them get away with it.  If you have something to say be certain that you strive to find a way of saying it.
