Opponents opened a weak 2NT

The assumption here is that the opponents’ bid promised 5-5 shape in the minors in some specified weak range.

The suggestion when discussing the overcall was that 3 and 3 should be natural, single-suited and strongish but not forcing, 3 and 3 should each show hands two-suited in the majors, the two bids being weak and strong respectively, and that double shows a strong no trump hand and will frequently lead to a doubled contract.

I shall do no more than suggest simple common-sense continuations.

Usually you will be in a position to select the final contract.

Following partner’s double you will seize the opportunity to double an escape for penalties, and a bid in a minor will be treated as a cue-bid, usually either as a search for a no trump stop, or as an advance cue-bid on a hand with strong support for partner’s suit.
